If this is the case, it's time for a food diary to identify what is causing the asthmatic episode, how severe it is and what you can do to limit coming into contact with that particular food.

It may be that it's a single item which would be good. The other possibility however is it's a complex or popular ingredient used in meals.

What we're actually looking for though is the asthma trigger in what you eat. This might be certain foods so the need for an asthma diet diary becomes very important.

For many asthma patients one of their most worrying asthma triggers (that is anything that makes their asthma condition worse) is the kind of food they eat.

For such patients it is necessary to be on asthma diet so as to prevent the food that can trigger the asthmatic attacks. An asthma diet is specific to each person and is usually not like the severe diet of diabetes. You can however severely limit asthma symptoms by lowering the exposure to food allergy triggers that could cause an asthmatic event.

Your asthma diet should not include those food that trigger the attack and food that cause any form of inflammation.

A food diary simply allows you to identify what causes the asthma attacks and you work to eliminate it from you diet.

There are certain food that are claimed to actually help prevent asthmatic attacks however. These include oils containing gamma-linolenic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid.

It was discovered in a research by University of California, Los Angeles (published in the April 2003 edition of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology) that these oils help to diminish the inflammatory difficulties experienced by asthmatic patients.

Talk to your doctor on the best diet to take that will not make your asthma worse. Tell him all you can the particular food that triggers your asthma as this will help him determine how to help you out.

And most importantly, make sure you follow your doctor's recommendation on the best asthma diet to take to ensure you don't have asthmatic attacks because of the food you take.

Taking simple care with asthma diet as mentioned above can make all the difference between constant asthmatic attacks and many months and years of safety from asthmatic attacks.
