Acid reflux has been known to affect even newborn babies on a more common basis, than was the case in the past. Just as asthma is also common among adults and children.

But there is the need for differentiating between acid reflux and asthma.

Clearly, acid reflux and asthma are completely different, but it has been said that acid reflux may worsen asthma symptoms. GERD also can make asthma symptoms worse especially during the night.

Specifically, UAB's Asthmatic Clinical Research Center (ARCR), one of the twenty American Lung Association-funded research facilities said acid reflux can probably worsen symptoms of asthma patients.

Acid reflux is known to occur in adults who have a hiatal hernia. It could also occur in children that their esophagus isn't developed fully after birth.

What happens with this condition is that the stomach acid comes up into the throat of the victim and burns, instead of stopping in the right place - the esophagus.

You probably know that exercise and asthma can be a very dangerous combination if you're not prepared. Just as you have to be cautious and spend more time on preventive measures for asthma, so also should you spend more time on curing acid reflux.

To cure acid reflux you should watch the kind of food you eat. This is because certain foods can prompt acid reflux attack- just the same way that certain allergies can prompt or trigger asthma. .

Living well therefore and avoiding the kinds of food and risky habits that can cause acid reflux and asthma is the way to go... if you want to protect your health and that of your family and loved ones. But of course, this assumes you're not a child and have control over these two serious diseases.
